A corporate identity and a 1000-seat food court have been designed for Hammerson’s spectacular WestQuay Shopping Centre in Southampton.

Created around tiered semi-circles, the three catering levels form a natural amphitheatre with dramatic views over the retail below.

References are made to both sea and travel by the subtle use of material and form. Sail-like awnings dominate the central coffee shop whilst blue glass artworks hang in the triple height window that looks out to the sea. Quotations from Kipling set in illuminated relief walls create a modern romantic edge and refer to the early days of glamorous ocean voyages to the New World.
